The Tisco Accounts Office Co-operative Credit Society was established in the year 1919.
The foundation stones of this Society were laid by the employees of General Office,
Accounts Division and other allied Departments of TATA STEEL LTD with the guidance of
the great Social Reformer Sri. Thakkar Bappa who was the lead founder of Co-operative Movement in Bihar.
During that period, the employees of TATA STEEL used to borrow money from the money lenders at the time
of their financial crisis. The money lenders were very harsh and rude while recovering their loans
and also used to charge heavy interest. The money lenders were used to operate in the vicinity of
Company premises who were causing nuisance and discomfort to the loanee employees.
Keeping this in view, few employees of TATA STEEL took an initiative to release the loanee employees
from the clutches of the money lenders. The employees’ efforts bore fruit and the Society
came into existence on 30th November 1919 with Mr S. R. Katre as the first Chairman
and Mr S. A. M. Siva as Hony Secretary.
The Tisco Accounts Office Co-operative Credit Society extends financial help to its members during their
need and it is run and managed by the Employee’s of TATA STEEL LTD. as per the provisions of Co-operative Laws of Jharkhand State.
